Bishopville Legion
Just wanted to inform everyone in the McBee area that Bishopville will have an American Legion Baseball Team this year for the first time since 1994. Our base school is Hartsville High School and we will practice and play our games at Robert E. Lee Academy in Bishopville. We will draw players from Hartsville, Emmanuel, Robert E. Lee, Lee Central, Darlington, Lamar, Trinity, and McBee. It could make for a very strong team. We are hoping for strong community support from the McBee area. We have many exciting plans in the works which includes involvement from all local recreation baseball leagues, a national tournament in Columbia, TN (last year's World Series Champions), and other events that will be finalized in the near future. We are hoping to find some people in the community who would want to volunteer some of their time and ideas to help improve our program. We are starting from scratch financially and are looking for partners who want to help us in our effort to improve and expand the quality of our organization. Our coaching staff will consist of Head Coach Preston McDonald, former Coker College baseball player who led Dalzell-Shaw's American Legion Baseball team last summer to a 21-8 record from a 1-21 record the previous year and their first ever playoff win and first state tournament appearance. Curtis Johnson and Graham Couch, who both currently play baseball at University of South Carolina, former LMA assistant Jeffrey Timmons, and former Hartsville and current USC-Sumter player Macray Peavy will all also be helping. If anyone has any questions or comments feel free to contact us at Bishopvillelegion@yahoo.com. Thanks and I look forward to seeing you all at games this summer!
